Introducing AzonPress 2.3.0: Amazon Creators API, Smarter Caching & More!

Hello, AzonPress fans!

Amazon is retiring the Product Advertising API (PA-API), and AzonPress 2.3.0 is our answer.

This release moves every product lookup over to Amazon’s new Creators API, rebuilds your product cache automatically, and adds the guardrails you need when Amazon has a bad day: cached fallbacks, request pacing, and a clear view of the last API error. A few things Amazon no longer sends us are gone too, and we’ve been upfront about each one.

What’s new in AzonPress 2.3.0

Add: Amazon Creators API as the only product data source

AzonPress now fetches every product through Amazon’s Creators API. Amazon is shutting down the Product Advertising API that powered previous versions, so this is not an optional switch; it’s the path forward for anyone who wants their product boxes, tables, and comparison grids to keep showing live data. Connect your Creators API credential ID and secret in Settings, and AzonPress handles the rest: OAuth token exchange, refresh, and per-store configuration all happen behind the scenes.

What this means for you:

• Your product data keeps flowing after Amazon retires PA-API
• One set of credentials covers product lookups and search
• Multi-store setups work the same way they always have: configure each country once
• Token handling is fully automatic; there’s nothing to refresh by hand

Add: Admin notice for the PA-API shutdown

If you’re still running on PA-API credentials, AzonPress now shows a notice in your WordPress admin explaining the shutdown and linking straight to the screen where you connect your Creators API account. No hunting through documentation to work out what changed or where to click.

What this means for you:

• You’ll know about the migration before your product data stops updating
• The notice links directly to the connect screen — one click to get started
• Once you’re connected, the notice disappears on its own

Add: Last Amazon API error on the settings screen

AzonPress now records the most recent error Amazon returned and shows it on the Settings screen. Rate limit hit? Credential expired? ASIN not available in your marketplace? The actual message from Amazon is right there, so you can act on it instead of guessing why a product stopped rendering.

What this means for you:

• Diagnose product issues without digging through server logs
• See the real Amazon error message, not a generic failure
• Faster support conversations — you can paste the exact error

Improve: Request pacing for Amazon’s 1-request-per-second limit

The Creators API allows one request per second. AzonPress now paces its own requests to stay inside that limit, spacing lookups out instead of firing them all at once and getting throttled. Pages with many products comparison tables especially — fill their cache reliably rather than half-failing on the first load.

What this means for you:

• Large tables and grids populate without hitting rate limits
• Fewer throttling errors when you first publish a product-heavy page
• No configuration needed — pacing is automatic

Improve: Product cache rebuilds automatically after this update

The Creators API returns product data in a different shape than PA-API did, so cached responses from older versions are no longer usable. AzonPress detects this on update and rebuilds the cache for you, refreshing products as they’re requested. There’s no button to press and no manual purge step.

What this means for you:

• Your products move to the new data format without any action from you
• The rebuild happens gradually as pages are viewed — no big upfront hit
• Old, incompatible cache rows won’t produce broken output

Fix: Legacy prime rows stripped from saved comparison tables

Comparison tables saved under earlier versions could include a Prime row. Amazon no longer sends Prime eligibility through the Creators API, so those rows would render empty. AzonPress now removes them from saved tables automatically, leaving your comparison layouts clean.

Fix: Lowercase ASINs not resolving

ASINs entered in lowercase failed to resolve against Amazon. They’re now normalized before the request, so b08n5wrwnw works exactly like B08N5WRWNW.

Remove: Prime badges and the hide prime status option

Amazon no longer returns Prime eligibility through the Creators API, so AzonPress can’t display Prime badges accurately. Rather than show data we can’t verify, we’ve removed the badges and the now-meaningless Hide Prime Status setting that controlled them.

What this means for you:

• No incorrect or outdated Prime badges on your product boxes
• The Hide Prime Status option is gone from Settings — it no longer had anything to hide
• Existing layouts adjust automatically; no template edits needed

Remove: Lowest price and offer count

Lowest price across offers and the total offer count are not part of the Creators API response. Both have been removed from product displays rather than left showing stale figures from the old cache.

What this means for you:

• Prices shown are the current Amazon price, always sourced from a live response
• No stale “from $X” figures lingering from PA-API data
• Product layouts reflow cleanly without these fields

Remove: PA-API credentials from settings

The API Key and Secret fields for the retiring Product Advertising API are gone from the Settings screen. Creators API credentials replace them entirely.

What this means for you:

• One clear place to enter credentials — no confusion over which set is active
• A simpler Settings screen with nothing obsolete on it
